Ah-ha

Well I have not updated this blog for a long, long time. A lot of that is because my account "expired" and I had to go hunting through my e-mail to find the link where I could re-activate it.

Well what can I say...I did not convert..."yet". I guess I put that into quotation marks because I have some pretty big obstacles to overcome before I can get to that point. The first thing is that I was in a bad car accident and laid up in the hospital for about 3 weeks. I broke my leg and my hip. Although the accident was not my fault, I really didn't get too much money out of it, because the man that caused it had no insurance. But B"H, I am alive. But I could not maintain my living situation. I gave up my apartment and moved back to Pennsylvania so that my family could take care of me. So yeah...I am quite removed from the Jewish community at this point. Therefore my conversion is on indefinite hold.

Also it doesn't look like I'll be in a position to move anytime soon. I am back in school...and hoping to finish by summer of 2009. Then I am hoping to go to graduate school at Chatham University (which is actually located in/near Pittsburgh's Jewish community...Squirrel Hill). As for work, I start a new job on Monday in Belle Vernon (south of me...so even further from the community) and the pay is not all that great at all. However I've been collecting unemployment for a while...and it will eventually run out. Plus I need to get some sort of benefits going already.

So that's my situation. I have difficulty walking, so perhaps all this is needed. Just G-d's way of telling me that I'm not quite ready. :-) I am thinking about going to Gemillas Chesed...an orthodox congregation in White Oak tonight...just to check it out. I must admit I went to a Conservative synagogue two weeks ago and I didn't feel comfortable at all. So I'm still very, very torn about what to do for this upcoming year.
