This segment was pretty interesting (there's a lot of parts). It was supposed to be a discussion, but really it was a dialogue with Mutabaruka going on and on. However, he raises some good points against Christianity. But the opening sheds greater light on just how misguided Rastafarians can be when he declares that he does not believe in the supernatural. In another segment, he discussed how he never smoked marijuana and also how it is the culture, and not the doctrine of Rastafarianism which perpetuates them. This is interesting, in that I do not think Christians feel this way. He also discusses (in another segment) how the food you eat, and also the material of the clothes you wear can limit you spiritually. But somehow you do not need G-d? Hmmmmm....
Both men do a pretty good job at exposing the fallacies of both faiths. I wish American TV had shows like this!

Mutabaruka is hardly a "typical" representative of rastafari (if such a thing can be said to exist). There isnt even a canonized version of rasta belief, no liturgy or even common agreement as to whether Selasie was their messiah or not. Theres a world of difference between the Bobos and the 12 Tribes types for example.
Here in Japan I know rastas who's prayers are more similar to those of Jews than anything else, who know the books of Moses better than many I daven with. OTOH, most I meet here shout up Selasie I but their actions speak differently than their words. Guess in the end its just like any other faith, lots of branches and few who devote their lives to the Lord.
Right; I realized Mutabaruka is not a typical Rastafarian. However I enjoyed the discussion he had and the points argued. Even if the fije details are not right, I can see that he vocalizes some of the big issues I have with Rastafarianism and why I never seriously considered it (such as pulling thoughts away from there being a unified G-d) Thanks for your comment downpressor!
